I have two old Schrade knives that i am trying to identify. One is an auto single blade that my Dad brought back from Korea during the war, the handles apear to be plastic, and are black. I have been told that this knife is called a ParaTrooper. I have pictures, but dont know how to attach them. The other is even older, it is marked SCHRADE CUT CO. WALDEN N.Y., and i have not been able to find any info on it at all, and again i have pictures.

Any info will be appreciated. I can e-mail pictures.

Attached is a Schrade Walden pic with composition ( ie early plastic ) military version. This is the post WW II issue so it is correct for Korea. I do not know if your second knife is an auto or not, what size, any info, Let me know, also let me know if this auto is correct. It is a bit hard to pull out an answer with no info and no pic. If this is correct I will tell you what ever you wish to know. This is the only Korean vintage composition handle military version with black handle and one blade again under a Schrade Walden tang. and should be it unless the knife in question is actually not military and is instead a knife acquired by someone while in the military. LT PS a black shroud cutter and one blade without shroud cutter usually seen with orange handles was made in during this period however those were sold in the PX on base and were not issue.

That looks exactly like it except it does not have the lanyard clip, and i sent you pictures, but was having problems with my work e-mail, so you will eventually get them.

Thanks for the info.

Ah tricky yours with out the lanyard is called the civilian version and may or may not have been issued ( chances are not ). made after 46 ( approx ) and into 1956. Again composition handles which are totally impossible to replace the stuff is no longer made an early plastic with a fiber composition. So these in original condition will eventually be rarer that the jigged bone earlier Jigged bone Schrade cuts or even the celluloid. Which can still be found. The blade unlike the the later orange Shroud cutter ( plastic version ) is not stainless . The value of this knife is as in most cases is dependent on condition. the two in the pics I posted are as close to mint as I have ever found. the pair should bring 1000 plus. The military versions bring a more than the civilian ones. Your knife if a parts knife in broken condition is worth 30 dollars give or take in the condition like the one I posted 500 perhapes more. So not having seen or handled your knife the value is somewhere between those two figures. Let me know if you need more info.

Ok I just got the pics of your knives the auto is in ( assuming it functions correctly ) good condition ( as to excellant, excellant plus, near mint, ect. ) retail would place it at 120 to 250 ( really max) retail. Your second knife is called a Fishermans pride. It has a scaler back, easy open notch, and stainless steel blades. it is the same basic pattern as a grandad large barlow. I have attached pics of two versions of this knife ( with Schrade marked bolster and without as well as the grandad barlow for comparison. ). I have seen these bring in really pristene condition 500 however even in that condition 350 would be more typical. Yours has great handles but the blade loss 25 to 30 percent really causes it to drop. 80 to 125 again as with any of this stuff retail and depending on how bad the buyer wants it. Schrade cuts were made from 1903 until 1946 ( APPROX ) However this knife is probably late 30 tys or 40 tys it is the later version tang as most of these were. I hope all this helps. Let me know if you need something else.

Hopefully you will receive the pictures that i sent you, and then will be able to see the condition, but yes that is my knife, the only thing wrong with it is the spring must be broke (it used to work but dont know). The other knife was my Grandfathers, and i have never even seen on the internet or in books one that even looks like it, so i am really wandering about it (hopefully you will get the pictures). I have a small knife collection, but dont know much about them, so i very much appreciate your knowledge.

Thanks again,
Cary

Looks like I posted before you but it should answer your questions the broken spring drops your knife into the 50 to 80 dollar bracket. LT

Thank you so much, I have been trying to find out about these two knives for a long time, even taking them to the gun shows, and no one could tell me much about them. That is good that they are worth a little something, however i plan to pass them to my son, since they were my Dad's, and Grandads.

Thank you again.

Cary
