OK, I now know I can't ask on this foprum about the value of the knives I have.
So I did as one gentleman suggested and went on e-bay to look at the prices they have on old Schrade knives. This was no help as they did not have any of the models listed that I have.
So I've purchased two books hoping they would be of some help, well so far still no help.
All I'm trying to do is researh what I have value wise, it sure whould we be good to know for insurance purposes.
I'm knew to this game, what I've learned so far is there's a lot of different knife manufactures and value infomation is as scarce as hens teeth.
Would anyone have any recomendations on a book or books that I can purchase that deal with Schrade or Camillus knife values.
Best Regards
Bob Hunter

Bob, knife resale prices are very fluid, changing from month to month and year to year. So any value stated in a book is likely outdated by the time it is published. There is no annual price guide book like there is for used cars. So the only way, other than comparing prices the same knives in the same condition sold for such as on eBay, to determine current market value is to sell yours and see what they bring. There are only a very few Schrade knives so rare that they do not show up on eBay at one time or another. Or, to pay a professional knife appraiser to appraise your knives. Bernard Levine is one such recognized expert who appraises for a fee. But I believe that even he will tell you that getting an appraisal for insurance purposes is a waste of time and money. Insurance companies typicaly come up with their own appraisal of value at the time a claim is filed. Your best bet is to obtain the best documentation that you can of your collection and keep that documentation in a safe place. Talk to Mr. Levine in the meantime. Or show us your knives (since they are not for sale) and let us ooh and ahh over them and tell you what background we know for your documentation files. We don't charge a fee. We may grovel and beg you to share the wealth, but we promise not to drool on them or leave sweaty fingerprints!

About once every month or two someone joins and wants to know what book to buy to assess value. For Schrades and Camillus, THERE IS NO BOOK!!! This place is the best source as far as I'm concerned for Schrades. I don't see a problem asking for value and why this was frowned up on quite frankly. I've seen the same question asked hundreds of times with no reprimand. I've bought and sold Schrades on Ebay for several years, and I follow Ebay on an ongoing basis. If you want to PM or Email me for my opinion, I would be glad to tell you what I think they would be valued at if you were to have to replace them. I'm not official but I value my own opinion. :D

Did you try a "completed listings" advanced search?

What models are they?

I see you just joined BF this month...be patient, not every pattern knife comes up for sale every day. I've owned knives that took me years just to identify. I don't know how good you are with google, but if you try some creative search terms, you can sometimes find things hidden between the lines.

No previous reprimand because it's a newer rule Spark has implemented :

WHAT IS MY KNIFE / GADGET / SPATULA / TUNING FORK WORTH?!?!?!?!
In order to curtail potential abuse of membership privileges associated with the forums, questions regarding valuation of knives and collections are limited to those with a membership level which permits selling on this site. Please have Essav or someone with superpowers to post this as a bold red sticky or banner at the top of this forum. Few people will go to the courthouse to find out the speed limit on a street they are not familiar with.

Seconded. Big bold stickies might get noticed but people won't hunt too hard to find all the rules. There are a zillion "What's my Schrade worth?" questions. I'd like to see this rule at the top of the Schrade sub-forum.

Thanks! You are worth every penny of your pay! :D
