My father gave me several old sharpening stones. I do not have a clue as to the grit designation. The codes on the boxes are unfamiliar to me. Can any one help with the codes and when I should use these stone? Here is the information.
COMPANY------ DESCRIPTION ON BOX
Behr-Manning--------India Combo Stone IB6
Behr-Manning--------1 Hard Arkansas Round Edge Slip Stone HS4
Carborundum---------Sharpening Stone , Ax Stone 194
Carborundum---------Sharpening Stone, slip Stone fine 180
I figured if I could get the information any where here would be the best place.
Oh and thank all of you that answered my question on sharpening kitchen knives. I ordered the Sharpmaker from Blowout Knives (they had the best price $42.67 delivered). I will let you know how it turns out.
