I was browsing some old posts and found a reference to an "old" and "young" Sher. What's the story there? Which one is the "tiger" mentioned in a lot of DOTD?

I'll await those wiser and more knowing than I but I thought the young Sher and Sher were the same, just earlier in his career.

The current Sher is the Tiger, there's some pictures of him and brothers?, I think auntie posted not too long ago, not sure where. I'll look but I'm sure Mr. Tall will be back with them long before I find them, he's wicked fast on this sort of thing.

Nope, two different dudes. Sher the tiger was and is one of the best kamis in the employ of HI. Not sure what happened to young Sher.

I don't think young sher is a kami. I believe he is/was an apprentice and was the shops man behind the buffing wheel.

Well I'll be dipped in goose slobber, I didn't know that, guess I just assumed.

I'll have to go back and refresh in the archives and study up on HI history some more.

I never claimed to be the sharpest khukri in the drawer ya know.

Ha, sometimes I just kill myself.............................................

Sher the Tiger is Kumar's brother and is from the "old" days of HI, very talented. I believe Young Sher is another kami.

I don't know if Young Sher is a relative of Sher the Tiger, but YS is (or was) an HI kami. There was a posting a couple of years ago about YS being out of commission for a while because he cut himself while polishing a katana. I don't recall hearing anything about him since then. His kami mark is a madrigal drum (kind of a 90 degree rotated version of Tirtha's beer mug kami mark).

Following is a posting and photo by Yangdu about a katana made by Young Sher. The handle is Hawaian koa, which is a wonderful wood. After acquiring the katana I gave the handle an ultra polish and it now looks and feels like brass. The photo was taken before the handle polish.

I also have this wonderful Tarwar by Young Sher. The handle is beautiful but it will tear your hands up if you don't wear gloves.

Old Sher the (tiger) is Kumar's brother. Young Sher made knife and Sword for HI for several years and he left shop to take care of his farm and family.
