I have a Simonich knife that Cristine says was made in the 80's. She told me to ask here if someone knew what model it was. Any history on Simonich knives would be appreciated. I'll try to attach a photo.

It's a photo in my computer I took with a digital camera. I reduced it in size to a smaller file to make it easier to post.

I'm sorry I still don't understand about putting the url inside the box. Does this mean the path to the picture on my computer? I post on another forum where they have a manage attachments box that I can brouse my photos and attach them to my post.

Thanks guys, let me know what I'm doing wrong.

Ok guys, thanks to Mr. Roos I got a photo of it in my original post. If any of you fellas know what model this is and what it's worth today let me know. I talked to Cristine Simonich and she didn't know much about it except that it was produced in the 1980.s

It's a beautiful knife with about a 4 inch blade and feels nice in the hand. I've not used it because I was not sure if I should or just put it in the safe as a collectors item.

thanx Bob from Idaho

Glad you got it to work!

Sadly, I counldn't tell you anything about the knife, except for that the value is what someone is willing to pay. Since there will be no more made, that may be quite a bit.

RIP Four-Star Big Bear :(

Nice knife - can't help ya, but you may want to try over on the Manufacturer's heading and try on the Simonich forum... more likely to get help that way...

My .02 cents is thatRob would want it used not put up. Just keep it from being abused and the value should remain the same. Give that baby some life once in a while. Nice knife by the way. :D

thanks blgoode

Nearing 60 this year and having been a shooter and a hunter since I was ten I have to admit I've never owned a custom knife before. This is a beautiful knife and I am a little in awe of it. I ran a gunsmith shop parttime for about 25 years and made a few blades from the local sawmill planer blades I picked up for free. These were good usable blades when retempered, but, nothing like some of the fine custom knives I see on your forum.

I do own some nice guns, but nothing collectable, more for shooting but nice guns never the less. Most of the knives I do own are common tools you buy at the hardware or sporting good stores except for an old Smith & Wesson Blackie Collins designed folder I bought when they first came out in the mid or late 1970's. I've used Gerbers, Bucks and such with pretty fair luck.

I sure appreciate your advice and will take it. It's a shame to see such a fine blade not used.

That looks like a Cetan to me, but it's hard saying. The blade sounds a little long to be a Cetan. Rob made the Cetan and Cetan Tanto. I have the tanto (from a kit knife!) and it has a slightly different blade shape. Rob was my reason for getting into making knives and I used to have a picture of every knife he put up saved, but they're nowhere to be found now. :grumpy:

I'll take some photos with a ruler and post it back. I will get all sides. The sheath looks original and came with the knife. Thanks for the info.

Maybe it just doesn't have a model name. Lots of makers make knives without naming them.

Walkingman

Yup, only thing on it is the Simonich mark with the buffalo. Sure is a nice knife. I've never owned a custom knife before and the fit and finish is astonishing compared to the factory knives I own. I'm gonna take it hunting this fall and use it. I know it might be worth more now that Rob is gone, but, I know these knives were made to be used and would serve the makers memory better doing what they were made for.
