I am interested about this courious old item. It is an alloyed bladed blunt sword which may have seen some use as a theatrical prop. The only marking on the item is the blade stamp which reads DCCCI (801?). The blade is about 36" with an OAL of 43". Blade thickness at the hilt is 1/2". Hilt is steel wire wrapped. The whole thing weighs 2-3/4 lbs.

Does anyone have any thoughts on who may have made this and when.

The hilt is interesting. I'm guessing a homemade but well made prop. The wire wrap is decent enough. The fittings are cast. It's also possible some company produced them as props, probably in the 50s.
