I'm guessing it's a hatchet anyway. I don't really know the difference between hawk, hatchet or small axe. So feel free to put me in my place.

I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about it, how old it is, to whom the makers mark belongs to or even the type of steel likely used. I bought it at a market probably 10 or more years ago now.

Here's some pics.

Thanks in advance,

Hey!
This axe are made by Hults Bruk and the axe are from 1800. Hults Bruk change stamp to HB around 1900 so I it most be over 100 years.
So this axe are made the old way with a harder steel in the edge
Good catch

are these old hatchets worth anything? how would you find out? is there a way to get a more specific date as to when it was made?

Hey!
Don't think it's much money in this kind of old axe model even when they are as old as the one you have.
The best answer i can give you on the years when the axe was made are 1870 - 1900

The way I read it is they are all axes,.

A hatchet is a type of axe primarily designed to be used one handed.

A tomahawk is an axe that the haft is put on by sliding it down through the top of the head and is held in be friction, rather than a wedge.
