Old threads. . . how to find them

I'm trying to find the old Kevin Cashen thread on working the three steel types dealing with eutectoid, hypo, hyper. The links come up as invalid. Any suggestions?

I'm guessing this is an issue with the previous migration to new forum software, and may be handled in a thread elsewhere but I rarely wander outside of Shop Talk.

You talking about his thread?
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/working-the-three-steel-types.673173/

Edit: If the thread link is dead you can use a google search string to pull the thread up

Example: the first dead link on the thread above:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=615086

take the thread number (615086) at the end of the link and paste it after the search string on google:

site: bladeforums.com 615086

The first result should be the thread:

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/hypereutectoid-steel.615086/

Hope it helps

Stacy's custom search is in the sticky just above the threads list. It works well for me.

Yup, the google search engine pulled it right up.

On many threads in older posts or in the stickys if you click the link it gives you an error message saying "OOPS!......."
To find a thread that the link does not open do this:
1) Open the Google Custom browser - https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=012217165931761871935:iqyc7cbzhci
2) Type in the desired thread title (you can just type in part of it, usually) For instance type,"Newbys, good info".

3) Hit the search button, and voila, it opens the thread that was not found earlier.

Some stuff got really messed up in the upgrade of the forum. Most of the dead links are still there, but the old address won't find them.

Weo, I have your old info still stored. I will contact you by PM about this soon.
