Years ago, a fairly common farm tool was a hand cranked grinding wheel about three feet in diameter. Does anyone still make these?

I know a guy that has one that has been set-up for a motor and it has plumbing lines to be water-cooled.

It's a pretty cool deal. He wants to sell it, he doesn't use it for anything.

I see those things for sale at antique shops all over the place... the best ones actually have little seats and are operated by pedals (like on a bike). These are truely variable speed grinders!

Theres one outside the door of Randal Knifes in Orlando FL.

I've got 2 of 'em....one that belonged to my Gramps, and one that I use on occasion when the mood strikes. Bicycle-type seats & pedal power.

Both have 20" X 2" wheels that were quarried less than 50 miles from here.

They have a hanger to hold a soup can full of water, with a tiny hole knocked in the bottom to dribble water on the wheel.

I've got 2 sons, so mine are spoken for, but they are around...just hit he smaller farm communities & one should turn up.
