i just picked up an original made in the USA Old Timer 108ot off ebay and I love it. It didn't come sharp out of the box, but I worked with it a little while and now it is as sharp as my other knives. It is the same size as my beloved Case CV Peanut, but it has three blades. I'll try to get some pictures later. I'll probably pick up another one just to have a backup since they're not making these anymore. I got it because I found my first pocketknife a couple of months ago, an Old Timer 34ot that I broke the tip off of and mangled the blades (I was a kid). I decided I wanted an original Old Timer and I had been loving the Peanut so I went with the smaller 108ot. I also got a Case Mini-Trapper, but it just feels huge after carrying around the Peanut. I'll probably give it away to a friend that was intrigued by my FIL's trapper. I think I'll stick with the Peanut and 108ot for a while. If you like Peanuts, there's a real good chance you'll like this 108ot.

Let the patina-ing begin.

Thanks for writing that up. I have many of the Schrade Old Timer knives, and out of the bunch of 50+ there are only a couple with F&F issues. An amazing achievement considering the mass-production and low price of the knife line.

Other Old Timers to keep an eye out for, since you like the smaller models, the 12OT and 18OT. The 12OT is most similar to a Peanut, while the 108OT is like a mini-serpentine stockman. The 18OT is another mini-stockman serpentine, but with a single blade and liner lock.

My first knife ever was a 34OT. And if I were buying one to carry, the most comfortable shape/size is the 61OT.

Here's an interesting 108OT, the small knife in the set, with red bone handles:

Those OT's are really sweet man. Bone handles and cut swedges and all. When were they produced? I am guessing before 1959?

Not even close. ;) The Old Timers in the photo are a 1985 anniversary set.

Just to add: the knives in the photo, for size comparison, are from top to bottom the 108ot, 34ot, and 8ot.
