Hang in here with us, Nemo. We have some real schrade experts, and one of them will drop in soon to answer your question. I can find nothing in my own references.

So how did one of our Schrade's end up in France? Are they popular knives there?

The knife came from me in a trade, I believe. I got a very nice 152UH on my end of the deal. Nice to hear from you Nemo, I figured I might see you here sooner or later.

I believe this is a 15 OT Deerslayer. Big fixed blade

Some quote from Robert Clemente's book

2. Sawcut brown Delrin handles, Old Timer inlay shield
3. Large full tang construction
4. Full length 10 1/2”, with full sheath
B. Statistics and Current Status:
1. Currently out of production
2. First year of production: 1964
3. Last date of production: 1997

Bonjour Guys !

I am a huge fan of the Sharpfinger and the Wolverine.
Sometime we are able to find some Schrade Knives in France but mainly it commes through people who have been in the US and bought them in Wal Mart! ;-D
I love everything in Schrade Knives, especially Old Timer with Carbon Blades which are for me State of Art blades in design, function and KISS philosophy.

The OT150 Deerslayer is a Beauty and I was able thanks to Brian to now use one in my forest adventures !
The rust on the blade while removed, creates some kind of texture which is really giving to her an Old Timer look ! I love that knife !

About the Sharpfinger and the Wolverine
Here is the link of our review with Fred !

http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Set/2292/schraderev.htm

It was also featured in Marc Macyoung book about Knife FIghting!
And Marc said to us on an email:
"Be warned, the purist get real unnerved when you use a "fighting knife" as a tool. I beat the hell out of my knives. They look at them and say (in horrified tones) "What have you been doing with this knife ?"
That's why bladesmithg consider me such a savage.
I got over that the day that I climbed a cliff and halfway up I discovered it turned to shale. I ended up hacking new hands holds with my knife and moving up a foot at a time. I don't care how much that knife cost, it was either ruin it or fall.
The Schrade 152 is one of the few knives I haven't been able to break despite seriously abusing it."

BTW I'm looking for an old Sharpfinger (I have offered mine to a good friend).
MacYoung in his books is showing a sheath which looks like a puuko sheath.
I was never able to find any information on that kind of sheath and I 'm desperatly looking for one !
I'm ready to trade !

Thanks to all Schrade Fans !

cheers

JM
