Digging through a old duffel bag I found my old Old Timer 1540T.Anybody else have one?

I had one in carbon steel and I miss it. I won't buy the new Schrade-branded knives made by Taylor Cutlery, but the Sharpfinger is a great design. Right before Schrade went out of business, Wal-Mart was selling the Sharpfinger with a leather sheath for around $15 in a clam pack.

I have one of those in my collection. I've always owned an Old Timer knife (my first knife ever was a 34OT from my grandfather), but only started semi-seriously collecting when Schrade went out of business in 2004.

Nice find. I believe it was called a "drop point hunter" by Schrade. I have been actively buying Old Timers on the net recently, fixed and folders.

I have an SC502 "Bighorn Sheep" that I bought new about 30 years a go. It's the Scrimshaw Sharpfinger with black sheath. Looks like they fetch a pretty penny these days.

Here's mine strapped on one of my hunting rigs. I have a carbon and stainless version:

Scoop65, I think you may be right. The 1540T is a drop point. Not like the Sharpfinger.

Yeah, I've got one of those- forgot I even had it! It's one of those knives that has followed me around for a long time, know I had it at age 15, makes it around 35 years. Definitely carbon steel, don't know what type- 1095 maybe?

I have a few Sharpfingers in carbon and stainless. The ones in use now are high hollowed reground and lost most of its excessive upswept point. These are real slicers and are easier to resharpen due to its thin edge.

Speaking of... I found mine too. I haven't seen this knife since I was about 15 years old... wow!! anyway... I also do NOT have a sheath for this... I would like the original if possible.. anyone have a sheath for the Schrade 1540T Old Timer?? used, broke in, etc.. I don't care... I just would like to get one.. If you know where to direct me, or if you know someone that lost the knife, etc, and has the sheath.. that would be great.. Let me know please... jasonleroyp

I don't have one, but I wanna pick one up. Too bad they only seem to be made in stainless steel nowadays. Making my own might be a good knifemaking project.

I've almost picked up a Sharpfinger a bunch of times, but never did for some reason. I remember the close out clam pack ones at Walmart; it was foolish not to get one then.

As a boy, I really wanted an Uncle Henry Golden Spike. I lusted after it ever since I saw one in a display case at an outdoor shop in NH while on a trip with my dad.

I have a set consisting of a 152, 1540T, and a 1560T. I used all of these knives for different game when Zi started hunting back in the early 80's. I would love to have a sheath for the 152 & 1540T. My sheath for the 1540T is held together with tie wire. Still love these!!

There are several on here that make sheaths. The only I have experience with is Dave Horsewright Horsewright . He made a small of the back sheath for my Tops Scandi Treker. His work is top quality. He recently made me a double mag carrier with water Buffalo overlay and holster.
