Hey everyone,
I was hoping that someone maybe able to help me out. I have my grandfather’s Old Timer pocketknife. He had this knife for a long time and used it daily; after he passed away, I was given his knife and would love to get it back to its original condition. The knife is missing the “OLD TIMER” plate that was on the front of it. Does anyone know how I may be able to get it replaced. Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Just keep shopping around for a "beater" Old Timer & remove that one's plate.
Or not ...

Myself, I'd leave it as is since that's the way your grandpa carried it.

(P.S. The old boy had good taste! I have an Old Timer sitting on my computer desk all the time! )

Yep. Plenty of beat up, broken blade Schrades can be found for dirt cheap. Worth it to buy one just to pop out the shield from a junker to restore a treasured one.

Schrade, the manufacturer of the original Old Timer knives, went bankrupt in 2004. The Old Timers available today are made in China and I'm not certain if their shields are interchangeable with the originals. I'm guessing your grandfather had one of the originals.

As recommended by others, your surest low cost method is to buy a junker off of eBay and use the shield from that. Clean the surface of the old knife with acetone before gluing. 5-minute epoxy glue will work best. Cyanoacrylate (Instant adhesive, Crazy Glue, etc) will work almost as well.

Check the big auction site online ...shields are always available ....then glue it on just like the factory did
