Anyone know how many sets of the Old Timer Classics serial numbered sets were made? The set has all four Classics and are serial numbered, and come in a wooden display. Serial number is stamped on one bolster and the Schrade logo is stamped on another bolster. I think they are from 2001. I've never seen a set like it but have some of the regular production in the tins.
Were these a low production special edition or something?

Thanks for any help.

Bringing this up to the top. I'd like to know as well. I was selling the Old Timer Classics on ebay, but individually, in the tins. Nice knives.. Anyone have one of the sets in the frame?

I have one of the framed sets. All 4 matching serial numbers, #189 of 500 made. Got it from AG Russell when they closed out. I like them a lot -- at first I wasn't crazy about the bird knife, but it has grown on me.

There's a set listed on eBay now:

Do you remember what the retail was on them originally, and what would be they would be worth now? I have the set in tins but the display sure is nice!

If you're asking me, I wouldn't have the foggiest idea. dlk said he bought one, I'm sure he would know. However, I don't think that clearance price from A.G. Russell would be representative of the market in Schrades today. Just my hunch.

On the other hand, look what this set went for:

And this one didn't go for as much as I expected:

And the individual knives in this set should have gone for about $100 more than the entire set:

It just goes to show that you never know what to expect on eBay.

I paid $200 for my set. I don't remember what the original price was but I seem to recall that $200 represented a very significant mark-down.

DLK,

Did it come with any type of certificate or paperwork stating how many were made?

Larmar,

In my records I have that 500 sets were made. I don't recall if I got that from AG's web site or some documentation that came with the set, but I suspect the former.
