Anyone know the story on these stickers being sold at a famous auction site?

Seller says they are a fabric decals and, "THESE ARE VINTAGE OLD USA SCHRADE WAREHOUSE STOCK IN NEW YORK FROM 1998."

The stickers say, "Schrade - Old Timer - USA
" and are gold lettering on black background. Link to ended auction:

I just browsed my collection and can't find anything with this sort of sticker attached. My best guess is patch strips to be sewn onto shirts, hats, or sheaths. But I've never seen such, and I really have no idea.

I have some of those stickers. However I have never seen them used on any item sold by Schrade.
They look much like the "Schrade TOOL" patchers used on sheaths - or the D'holder Lake & Walker patchers sown into the sheaths... Ken

I've seen these stickers often for sale but I too have never seen them attached to anything.

Are you sure? Get out your Safe-T-Grip folders like the 43OT or 47OT.

Guess that settles it.

I did a quick search on eBay for Saf-T-Grip knives to see if any had a sheath with the patch logo; most appeared to have unmarked sheaths. And I browsed the Collectors of Schrade website for any clues.

Guess my mad internet skills are taking the week off.

Anyhoo... I bought a roll of one thousand stickers for the collection. :D

You can sew them on jeans, hats, coats, underwear... uh... give them as Christmas gifts, decorate your collector frames and I am sure you will think of more uses before you run out of them! :D

Oh... and look through the Schrade flyers for those years (above) on the COSRUS site. It is only a few pages long.

PS: I cheated. I have a full collection of all of the Safe-T-Grip series and X-Timers. I just had to go and look to refresh my memory.

My only X-timer is boxed only, no sheath. I do collect Old Timer knives, but haven't bit at the Safe-T-Grip series yet.

Old age dose have its' days. I just looked, and found I have all three, the 47OT,49OT and a 43OT.
That is why I like Displays: I did not even know I had those Safe-T-Grip knives put away.

At least one of the major knife wholesalers has had rolls of these stickers for sale, very cheap, for years. They just about can't give them away.

Welcome to the forum George! Yeah, there are limited uses for them. I guess ISC orgered a huge quantity to get the per-unit price down and sales didn't meet projections. In the latter days, they practically went berzerk with new pattern introductions trying to recapture an elusive market share. Too many goods chasing to few dollars.

Another pic of said label and pouches, amongst a few safety grip knives.

These tags with the small USA are the old Schrade tags, as above. The new Schrade tags are the same, just with-out the small USA.

I've just seen something interesting. There's a particular eBay seller with a number of high-priced Schrade Old Timers listed. On each Old Timer box he has affixed one of these stickers, even though the stickers are much too new to be associated with the knives. Probably bought a bunch of stickers and didn't know what else to do with them, LOL.

These stickers were also used on the later 6OT knife sheaths. I had one in the collection the whole time and didn't realize. :o
