Old Timer utility?

This one went for way more than I could afford, but it IS the first time I've seen one, ever. One of a kind worth it's weight in gold? (which is about what it sold for):

You beat me to the punch Eric. I was going to mention the same. I emailed the seller this morning, and he said there was no pattern stamp on the back of the blade, which is somewhat un-Walden like.

I saw two similar to this one for sale when I was a greenerhorn than I am now (last fall I think). I can't say for sure they were the same knife, but they were Craftsman Sawcut Delrin Scouts. At the time, I felt $40.00 - $45.00 was too much to spend. I believe that was about what they went for. I kind of forgot about them until I saw this one, but they were the only other ones I'd seen. I assume they were Schrade made, but I can't say for sure.

Tim,
I was thinking Sears myself, or maybe Penney, etc, but that shield is a mystery.

Looks like a Schrade Walden version of the Ulster Old Timer Prince Albert utility knife.
Get the full story at Larry's site. There are two articles that help explain the origin of the knife.
It looks to me to be one that got stamped with the Schrade Walden stamp instead of Ulster. The pattern appears to be the Ulster 114.

There no absolutes when it comes to Schrade. :D

I don't think anyone can say with certainty. Possibly a 914 utility spear master got put on the 114 utility frame. Possible it was a pattern proto before they decided to use the 114 Ulster pattern instead of the 914 SW pattern. Does anyone have both handy to do a side by side comparison of frames, bolsters, shackles, and pin locations?

The spear blades of my Ulster 114OT and Ulster 114's are the same as my SW SFO 9555 Saw utility knife, which is essentially a 914 with added saw blade. It has the OT style sawcut Delrin covers, and the bolsters, pins and shackle match the subject knife. My 114OT has a long shackle and jigged Delrin covers, unlike the subject knife. However, as you have seen, the 114OT uses elongated oval shielding (like my 2OT and craftsman Ulster 114OTs) as opposed to the more commonly seen OT shield on the subject knife. I've not found an ad or illustration of a 914OT, but that is apparantly what the subject knife is. More opinions and comparisons?
