Hello,

Could you gentlemen please tell me what, if any, differences there are between the Old Timer and Uncle Henry lines? Thanks,

S.

Hi again, Spill!

Looks like you and I are hogging the Schrade forums.
As far as I know, the Uncle Henry line is the Imperial Schrade "premium" line of knives. The only difference I can see is the imitation stag scales and stainless steel (440A, I think)of the Uncle Henrys. The Old Timer line seems to be more popular here on BF, as most that browse the Schrade forum like the carbon steel of the Old Timers. I have several of each, and the quality looks the same, for the most part excellent. Like many others, I, too, prefer the Old Timers, but they are both nice knife lines. I do a little tinkering with them when I get them, polishing the springs and ends of the bolsters. Some manufacturers knives come with this done, but cost a few bucks more.

Uncle Henry only has a couple fixed blade knives, while Old Timer has more fixed blade variety. The Old Timer "sharpfinger" fixed blade is one of the best little fixed blade outdoor knives, at a great price, that money can buy. They need more carbon steel fixed blades, in my opinion.

I think the Uncle Henry lockbacks have wooden scales, while the Old Timers have delrin.

Shoot, I coulda saved myself a lot of typing by refering you to their website www.schradeknives.com . It's got all their knives listed, and you can order a free catalog on there, too. It only took me a few weeks to get mine, and it was a nice catalog. Hope this helps!
