Other than the handle material and blade steel, are there other differences between the Old Timer and Uncle Henry lines? I have heard Uncle Henry's are a bit more refined... more hand work and attention to fit and finish. True?

Thanks.

Willie, As a general rule all Old Timers are 1095 carbon
steel where all Uncle Henry's are stainless steel.

That's why Old Timers are so well liked they cut really
good and are inexpensive while being very easy to sharpen.

Actually not all Old Timers use 1095 carbon steel:
My Old Timer Buzzsaw Trapper has the Schrade+ stainless steel used in the Uncle Henry's.
I don't know if any other Old Timers do.
Just thought I would share.

Also I think the Uncle Henry knives are guaranteed against losing the knife. If I'm not mistaken, if you lose your Uncle Henry knife then Schrade will replace it.

Good luck,
Allen.

My recently purchased 3OT, a small lockback, also says Schrade+ on it. When you buy an Uncle Henry, you get a registration form and a loss claim certificate. The registration form should be sent in within 10 days of receiving the knife. If you lose the knife within one year, you fill out the loss certificate and have it notarized. After one year, you're out of luck.

I have several of the Uncle Henry line and like them well. I don't have any Old Timers, but I will. I got the impression that the OT was the "working knife" for construction, ranchers, and other hard working men. The UH seems to be more refined for weekend carry around town, the outings with the family, etc. I find them to be very nice looking knives.

Most of what has been said is correct. Old Timers are 1095, Uncle Henrys are stainless. (Some OT locking knives and fixed blades are also stainless). Yes, Old Timers were initially designed for the working man, great value, easy to sharpen, lifteime guarantee, etc. Uncle Henrys are guaranteed against loss for one year after purchase, provided that the consumer has filled out and sent back the registration and loss guarantee form to us at the time of purchase. OT's and UH's are finished to the same high quality level, not to different levels..

I think my UH 171 had a carbon steel blade. Pretty pitty when I got it, but cleaned up easily and it's still a favorite of a local elk hunter who carries it now.
