My wife was going through some boxes in the basement the other day and found this Schrade old Timer, she said it used to belong to her grandfather. I gave it a clean up and sharpened it and now it's sitting on my shelf. I know nothing about it or how old it may be but I thought I'd share some pictures of it...

Congrat's sawyer, you have one of the best using pocket knives ever made. Great old 1095 carbon steel, ground nice and flat all the way to the cutting edge. Gets scary sharp, and easy to keep that way. :thumbup:

Old Timers had quite a cult following with real working men before they went out of business.
 
Thankyou very much :) My wife says she remembers her grandfather always using it when she was a kid. And yes the edge was scary sharp when I'd finished with it. There's not one hint of play in the blades and they snap great still.
 
Those are great knives. Maybe your wife should go through my old boxes and find all my knives I've misplaced over the years.

IF what I have read is correct the SCHRADE 8OT 4" stockman is also the best selling pocketknife of all time. This is truly a classic folding pocketknife.
Interestingly enough, the first BUCK stockman I ever saw [1968??] had an 8OT clip blade in it. I knew then who was making BUCK'S new line of pocketknives !!
 
The 8OT is my all time favorite pattern for stockmans. I love it to death. I have had atleast 5 or 6 of them so far and want more. The greatest production stockman ever imo.
 
That one is a nice 1970's example, made after the 1973 change from the Schrade Walden stamp to SCHRADE NY. Nice pick up Sawyer. You will enjoy using that knife.:thumbup:
