Hers another value question.
I have looked on ebay and a few other places but have not found any with this type box also this one is numbered on the inside brass liner the number is 08997

A nice earlier Schrade Walden made between 1967 and 1973. Likely on the earlier years of that. As to the value, I haven't a clue. It would depend upon how badly a perspective buyer wanted it, and how many others were bidding against him. You can put it on ebay and find out. Or keep it and enjoy owning it. I personally wouldn't use it. But as the owner, that is your call..

The box insert looks like it has a lot more wear then the knife does. Just an observation.
 
Yeah, the box did not fare as well as the knife.
Years of storage and oil stains.
Thanks for the help,it belongs to a friend of mine and he was thinking about trading it.

The tang stamp matches the era of the box. It is a Schrade Walden, with stainless marked on the blades. I like that smoother, reddish Staglon. Pretty knife. The hinged box is fairly uncommon.

I'd guess it to go at least 45.00 on Ebay, maybe 60.00, but that depends on listing skills and the factors Michael mentioned. That is a nice picture.
 
I'll guess it is not an Uncle Henry. It looks to me like jigged bone and there is no shield. I don't think staglon will break off like that. It looks to small for the 897 slot. If it's a Schrade, I'm guessing it's an 855. If you want to quadruple your money, I have two knives that would love to live in that box Roland. You can keep the knife. :D
 
Hal, if it's the wrong box for the knife, i'll send you the box and papers for "future considerations". not a Schrade ? maybe an old Remington ? ahhhh, the excitement of waiting, just that is worth $1. (does that mean my life is too boring ?) roland
