I just found (and bought) and old Raider, and I was wondering if it was a knife that a collector may want? I know many people really like domestic made Schrade knife, so I figured it was worth it to ask before I thought about opening the clam package and just keeping it for myself (i know it would be worth a lot more unopened). Anybody know anything about the knife that would make it desirable or undesirable?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say any knife in a clamshell is new enough and mass produced enough to not be worth more unopened to a collector.

It might be worth more only in the "new in box" sense to a user.

Would a collector buy it? You did, so the answer appears to be "yes."

Would it be against the rules to ask if it were worth reselling (to make profit) based upon what I paid?

It all depends on how much you paid for it and how much you can sell it for, doesn't it?

Why didn't you just go on eBay to check the prices for these knives? There are currently 30 for sale, and none of the ones listed at $4.50 have an offer on them. Exactly how much "profit" are you expecting to be had?

I paid 13 for it, and if I can't make at least 10 on it I will just keep it for myself.

So opening the clam packaging doesn't hurt the collectability of knives (if you plan on selling to a collector)?

Let me reiterate....any knife in a clamshell is new enough and mass produced enough to not be worth more unopened to a collector. Is is probably worth the same to a collector as a knife that has been taken out of its clamshell, that is, not much at all.

This knife is not a domestic, USA, made knife. It is made in China. I don't think it will, ever, have any collectibility. Open it and carry it is what I say!

The raider used to be domestic made, and mine is, as the title states. Either way, after opening it and refining the edge, I really love it and won't sell it. Damn good knives, making me want to keep them.
