Old Utica Kutmaster

Hi all. I have an old Utica Kutmaster camp knife, but I don't know what this blade was designed for. Was my grandfather's, guessing 1950s-1960s. It is not a bottle or can opener. Anyone know what it was meant for?

It's a can opener. I have never tried using of of those, but they show up occasionally.

Yep, can opener. I had a similar knife and asked about it in the BRL forum. I was told that the opener functions by cutting the lid from underneath. Puncture the lid, place the opener against the can rim and lift it up. I tried it, it works, but you do have to be careful. Almost cut my thumb wide open when it slipped.
