This used to belong to my dad. I’m guessing it’s from the 1980s. The original scales got warped and were held on for a while with some double sided tape. After a while that wore out, the scales were chucked, and the knife just went in a drawer where it sat until I found it by chance the other day.

I cleaned it up a bit and got most of the tape residue of the liners. The action is still fairly snappy on the tools. They’re pretty scratched up though and would need a more through cleaning and sharpening. The scissors need a new spring as well since the original is gone.

My preference on SAKs is for larger models so I don’t really have a use for this one. If anyone would like it for a rescale project or to use for parts then you’re welcome to have it, gratis. The only restriction I would have is to limit it to the USA for shipping. First person to speak up gets it.

EDIT: Original post withdrawn. I already have two Executives, so I don't want to be greedy. I'll give somebody else a chance with it.

I'll take it. I've always wanted one, and this would be perfect to learn to work on.

Victorinox would probably rescale it for free. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Congrats, smaug. Very nice edc knife. Even Chuck Yeager carries it as his edc back packing in the Sierra Nevada's while trout fishing.
Carl.

That is a great piece of trivia, Carl. Where did you come across it?

It is a nice knife, but not what I would pick for trout fishing. :)

From two sources. One was his own book "Press On" about his obsession for fishing for the California golden trout and their backpacking expeditions into the Sierra Nevada mountains for up to two weeks at a time. In the book, he states that to save weight, he does not bother to carry a fishing knife, but only uses his regular everyday pocket knife. That was clue one.

The clincher was in the knife magazine that has the little "The knife I carry" page. It has a photo of Yeager and he states that he always carries his Victorinox executive because it keeps his nails trimmed while on long trips backpacking and fishing for trout.

Apparently General Yeager goes for small knives. In his book "Yeager" the autobiography, he tells of the time he was shot down over occupied France, and was on the run. He's dragging along this other airman from a shot down B-17, who's very badly wounded. While their going over the mountains to Spain,Yeager amputates the guys arm with what he called a 'pen knife' that he had in a pocket.

Like I was told as a kid; it doesn't have to be big, just sharp.:)

Ya got a good knife there, Smaug.

Carl.
