This is something that has bugged me for a while (not knowing) so I figured I'd ask.
Back when I first started researching these knives, a common issue (complaint?) was the jimping. The term that people seemed to keep repeating was "non functional." In other words, people complained that the jimping wasn't sharp enough.
Fast forward to when I get my first Seb (and all after that), the jimping is perfect. Sharp, but not so much that it's painful. It literally locks my thumb in better than any other jimping I've handled, save for the Hinderer. For the longest time I just thought that maybe it was a subjective thing, and that there had been no change.
Well, the other day I was in the knife store and I got to hold a regular made in the early 2000s. Sure enough, the jimping was different. It looked the same (almost), but you could definitely tell that the peaks weren't as high or as sharp. In short, it didn't lock your thumb in at all. I know about the wider jimping they tried for a short while, and this wasn't that. It was literally just jimping that didn't seem to have peaks.
So, my question is: Did CRK change the jimping recently? Does the jimping just vary from knife to knife? Either way it's not a problem or anything like that, just something I'm curious about.
