My GF and me went camping out to the Anza Borrego springs for new years. That's her first time camping but she did live in a small village in china.
I think she is hooked on the outdoors now. Toward the end of the trip Jason his brother and his diffently better half Amy.
Before cooking you must season the wok

Chinese food while camping in the desert was a first for me. Your GF has skills. And the weather couldn't have been better.

Thanks Neeman, I forgot how to use the photo bucket.
Jason I do agree the weather was perfect.. Did you go on the trails I pointed out to you??? Joan said that next time she would plan more and to expect even better food.
How did your cooking system worked out for you???

Really cool sasha, awesome post. I really would like to go camping in the desert. Now, I want to make a portable stove for my wok.

Ok I'm all in on the next trip!!! You guys definitely know how to camp! Awesome!!!

Sasha's grill inspired me last year, so I cut up a 20 gallon drum and used u-bolts to mount Weber grates. Of course I brought it this year and didn't take any in-use pics, but it worked great. Here's a before and after. Was going to bush down from the 2 inch to 1 inch pipe and make a pot hangar, but didn't have time.

Yep, we did the hike over into the next canyon to the Palm Oasis. Very nice hike, and I think I'll be going back next month to explore more trails in that general area. Can the food really get any better? We ate like big fat kings, so I have my doubts.

I been going to Anza Borrego desert camping for maybe 25 years now. I try to go there for Xmas and come back on the first day on the new year. There are plenty of hiking trails and the views can take your breath away. Quirt its always fun to go camping. Wish I didn't have to work so much and had more free time for the outdoors.
Jason you just wait you might be surprised at some of the dishes Joan can come up with. That's her first time camping so she had no idea what to expect.. She want to go camping more often now.
Only surprise I got this time was from the ranger who drove by telling me that dogs are not allowed in the park and must be keeped in the car or on the dirt road only... My question was so dogs are not really allowed here any more.. His answer was yes they are allowed its just that I need to keep her in the car or on the road... Lucky he never came back but I dicided not to go on hikes so I won't get a citation ..... Welcome to CALIFORNIA
