Old Wenger - Bakelite (?) scales - how to restore?

Hi,

just got an old Wenger Officer's knife...

I believe it's handle material is bakelite...

any tips on restoring or taking care of vintage bakelite?

BTW, speaking of vintage, any way to determine it's age?

here's a similar knife, except mine is a Wenger,

blade marked Wenger over Tahara

mine has a bail on the end...

the logo on mine is a crossbow, with the word "SUISSE" across the bow part

fragile material, not mutch to make, carefully clean and put it in collection. some of those are not stainless so be carefully with cleaningfluids.
