It is 14" long 9" blade bone handle end cap missing. Appears to be a carver. Stamped or etched horse shoe with,R inside it. New York below the Wm.A.Rogers.
From what I have found the horse shoe places it in about 1860's
I can't tell if it was silver plated. It is not a collector piece.
I'm wondering what kind of steel would it have been made of at that time ?
Interested in any thing I might learn.
