Will this art of handmade knives be lost forever?

Hardly. The art of handmade knives is alive and well, though like all things, you have to be willing to pay for it.

Here are three puukkos of recent manufacture.

If anything, the market for handmade, artisanal objects is the strongest its been for a long time. The advent of the internet has shown craftsmen of all types that there is a demand for their goods and made it much simpler for consumers to find them.

Very interesting video of some fine craftsmanship.:)

I've got a buddy making those stacked birch bark handles today,- and doing very
well with it
Ken.

Great video. I think there are plenty of craftsmen on this site doing a great job of keeping the art alive!

I'd say the art is hardly dead, just not mainstream. There's many makers of some very fine user and art puukkos. I try to preserve and emulate from both spectrums, but find I still have lots to learn, especially depending on the regional styles and blade shapes.
