Hey guys,

Just wanted to share some traditional old world skills of engraving and knifemaking with you guys.
Below is a the works of a guy named Montejano who started showing off his work in here about a few years ago. He was real humble about it, but everyone was blown away by his work. If I remember correctly, he is a self taught engraver by trade from Spain. This particular piece was made from 440C and ivory that took a long time to complete. A very good chopper ;)

I am really glad to see some of the finest old world skills alive and well. Someday I would like to collect his work. Btw, Do we have people in the states that do this kind of work? Enjoy

God Bless

Holy moly! Thanks for posting it...that's a piece of work now!

The amount of detail that went into it is amazing, but to be honest this kind of knife doesn't appeal to me. I do respect the craftsmanship though.

I can appreciate the skill that it took to make that but the knife doesn't look good to me. I think it's too much going on there.

Word to that! It'd be a bear to clean after bucherin a hog. :p

that is one PHENOMENAL achievement!

It's not a butcher knife Kerry. It's meant as a chopper, like a Busse:) Deep down inside, I know that knife is on your list to make, along with that year knife with 365 blades.;) When it's done, just send them both my way :D

God Bless

It is work of a highly skilled artisan for sure.
It is more than I would collect, but to the "right" collector who has the "right" means of displaying such a piece, it might be one of the "Stars" of the collection.
Thank-You for sharing,

For any who doesn't know it, he still posts here fairly often and his work is always worth taking a look at, regardless of whether or not it is "your type of knife".

This is a link to his profile and you can click "All threads by..." to find more pics of his work... Montejeno

Nice show of skills. As a knife it doesn't appeal to me. The craftsmanship is impressive!

Kind regards,

Jos

Very remarkable blade and although the handle looks like it would be uncormfortable, this blade is probably just as functional as a non art knife. Functional art at its finest I'll say.

I believe I've seen some of his videos, they're very well thought out and edited with stirring music to go along with his beautiful work..... great craftsmanship but it doesn't turn my crank.

Antonio Montejano does some great work and is exceptionally talented.

That being said, there is sometimes confusion, as his technique is often described as "engraving", but it actually is an "etching" process he calls "strong water" which refers to the acid used.

I have a high regard for his skills, but it is very different than engraving.
