older buck 119 for $23.00

Ok ,I was lucky today and got a buck 119 V for cheap,its in mint cond.

I don't think its been sharpened ,and it has the older flat sheath thats 2 pieces of leather.What steel is it and why does it look and feel better than a new model ?thanks
 
Razor, The steel is 425M and yes it cuts and holds an edge better.It probably has more belly out on the tip than than the new ones and the handle is more beefy.Thats the sheath I prefer as well it holds the knife quite when hunting or walking in the woods.Great catch.DM
 
Thanks,it is a nice 119,I love it.It has a blade exactly like you are talking about,I don't understand the blade shape changes going on ,the 110 has a different blade shape,and the 119 also,why change these classics?Is the new methods of blade making, making it more cost effective and less waste to make suttle changes and hope nobody notices?

I am noticing,I just don't like thew new 110 blade shape,and won't buy one for that reason.

Itmust have been recently that the shape has changed,I have one of the early AG110'S from cabelas with the old clip point shape.And now they are all this new shape.what gives?
