I stopped by one of the local pawn shops today, and saw on old congress in the glass case. I asked to see it and the guy said "the handle is broke" . I said thats fine. I notice it had Case XX marked on both latge blades, and no other stamps. I knew it was an older knife ( I think 1940-1965). Would anyone have any info on this knife or know of a way to narrow the date down. I would like to replace the broken scale, should this be something I let Case do? I have attached some pics of it as it came from the pawn shop. I plan to clean it later and put an edge on the blades

Thanks,
John

thats my dream knife- I love finding them like this. Case will probably rescale the entire thing, becuase they dont have any older bone like is on the mark side. Once polsihed up and sharpeed and a set of custom scales, that could be a real eye catching EDC. If you don't mind me asking- what did you have to give for it?

The guy asked what it was woth to me and I was thinkning $20, but said $5. He shook his head yea and I pulled out a five $ bill as fast as I could.

I have spent a little bit of time cleaning it up, and getting the red rust off. It is turning out nice. I am sure Case will do a great job.

Thanks for the reply.

Muskrat man could do justice to that baby also.

It is a good find. I got one not long ago but paid more than that for it. Mine isn't as old either. Based on that stamping on the blade it is one from 1940 to 1965 according to my book.

Hey Muskrat man email inbound. I'm wanting to mail that one to you. My treat.
