Hello,

I have a what seems to be a unique pocket knife made by Colonial Knife Prov USA.

It's a two blade knife with a closed length of approx 3" long. The body appears to be brass with Mother of Pearl inlay and it's in the shape of a semi truck. One side reads TEAMSTERS KEEP AMERICA MOVING with the Teamsters logo on it. I'm assuming this was some sort of promotional item.

I've searched online for anything like it but have come up empty handed. I did email the Colonial Knife Company and got some history on it

the No. 18 truck knife was manufactured between 1970's and 1984
used as a promotional item only it never had a retail price but sold as a giveaway item.
Example: customer bought the knife and gave it away to promote their company.
Cost of the No. 18 truck knife was 5.00

Any thoughts on a value of what something like this could carry in todays market or has anyone else everr seen one of these?

Thanks in advance

these type knives were given away by the millions. many companies gave them away, insurance, shoe cos.,feed stores ,magazines, banks etc.majority were cheap products but some of the ornate ones do have collector value. with the exception of the anhauser-busch knives with the stanhope lenses, 15.00 is about tops.

Newbert, I see those around every so often at yard sales or swap meets. I think 5-10 bucks is about average. Some people think of Colonial as a mfgr of inexpensive knives, which is kinda true based on their old shell-bolster slipjoints. However, I've repaired several broken ones and used the blade-spring combo of others to build new handles around, and I think they used better steel than the cheaper knives of today, given that it wasn't stainless. I've been quite satisfied with mine.

Thanks again for the info. Sounds like a good item to throw on eBay....Would make a great fathers day gift for that special trucker in your family ;)
