Lately I've renewed my interest in fix blade knives. All my folding knives for over 50 years have been Solingen German made knives so that's what I've been looking for. Recently I've bought three off eBay . One I sent back for reasons I want go into and the other two I've kept. The problem with them and all I've seen on the for sale places the handle is very small. It gives the thought that most German or maybe EU folks have small hands. The handles all measure 3 1/2 in. . The Randles I've owned all had handles larger. I've always thought I had average size hands but these small knives may be a little hard or difficult to use after the hunt. The blades are as I have found out are very good. Hone well and hold an edge fairly good just like the pocket knives I've owned and still have from Solingen Germany. I wonder If I should keep looking for one from that time period or just be happy with the small ones I've found. The knives I've received are from the late 50s to the 60s.

odd.... since hand size is proportional to height and they are amongst the taller countries in the world with an average height of 5'10.5"
vs about only 5'9" states side

My wife and I have hosted several exchange students over the years and some from Germany. I really didn't measure them or ask but the young man was about my size and young lady was almost my height. I didn't believe it but over the years I've gotten shorter and heaver. I was 6ft when I was discharged from the USAF and now 50 years later I'm around 5ft 11. Now like most Americans my fathers family came from another country. England. My mothers family was here to meet them . Native American. Or at least her father was and don't know much about her mothers heritage. But I'm fairly sure they were from Eu. some where. like most folks we all come in different shapes and sizes. I always thought I was average size. As far as hand size I wear a size 13 on the right hand and 12 1/2 on the left. The Randles I've owned filled my hand with a little sticking out. Maybe I should ck out some gun and knife fairs before I purchase another I would really like to find one from that time and place.
