Hi. I'm interested in getting an opinion on which serration pattern is better: the old leek serration pattern or the newer one? Also, which would be easier to sharpen with a spyderco sharpmaker? Thanks in advance for the answer.

i have a sharpmaker and i would say the newer ones are easier to sharpen and honestly work better than the old. i will admit that i like the look of the older ones. but the two biggest injuries i have sustained with knives were caused by the scalloped patterned serrations. both my rescue blur and JYDIIs have them and when properly sharpened, they will scallop little sections of your fingers off with no trouble. my saving grace was that the knives were sharp enough that i felt no pain either occasion....

Thanks for the helpful reply. By the way do you sharpen each serration separately or do you just follow the sharpmaker directions for sharpening the serrations?
