i have an older military that had some up and down play. to fix it i took it about and bent the liner lock over a tiny bit. While I had the knife apart I noticed that the washers are not phosper bronze or even nylon materiel. they were see through and copper colored. any ideas. i cant send the knife in because the guy before me took it apart and i obviously took it apart.

The older millies had nylon washers. I had an older one with those and phillips screws in the clip. I asked spyderco about changing them out with PB washers and they said it may affect lockup, so I never did it and gave the knife to a friend about a year ago-his first spyderco and first quality knife. He has since bought two PM2's and a Moran drop point.

That's normal for the first generation Millies. Mine is like that. There are quite a few of those early Millies still going strong, so it obviously isn't an issue. Actually, several custom makers and high-end prodcos still use nylon, nylatron, whatever the material is called.

My Para 1 has Nylatron washers and I haven't had a problem with it. I think you're alright.

Copper colored and see through sounds like one of the fancy fluoropolymers or polyimides available for bearing use.
