Got an older military. Probably 1998 model. Its has black G-10 scales and a fully serrated ATS-34 blade. Got this knife in a trade (for a fair price) and its been around the block. Even has a small part of the tip missing and reground which is perfect for me as I wanted a full serrated HD knife and a not so pointed tip will be safer around livestock. My question is there is a lot of play in the lock. Can I replace the mechanical part that engages the blade? Thanks.

i dont think they will send you a new liner lock, but i imagine if you sent it in they would replace it.

Try removing and rotating the piviot.

Yep the older Millies have an eccentric pivot. The lockup can be adjusted. Pop the pivot out and rotate a couple of degrees. First mark the original position though. When rotating the pivot use baby steps, a little goes a long way here. I too purchased an old Millie with sloppy lock up, after adjustment it's damn near perfect.

Well, lock up loose again. I guess the scales or whatever which hold the pivot must not keep it from spinning.

I got one just like it.

Oh no .... Sounds like the "grooves or teeth" in the G10 that hold the pivot in place might have stripped, causing the pivot to spin. This can happen if you go to far tightening up the pivot or if the pivot has not re-installed correctly.
