I own an older Buck model stock knife (301 type) that may have been made by Schrade. It is 4" closed and the main blade is 3". The master blade is marked "BUCK MADE IN USA" and the bolsters are grooved. Can somebody help me out with a little history on this knife, and possibly a value?

Thanks

Richard

Welcome! 303 and 500 series sure have been busy this weekend. From the articles I've seen, a grooved 301 would be an early Schrade contract knife. Value, I have no idea, but I'd hang on to it as an increasingly rare collectable.
Gypsy is usually lurking and Larry Oden will probably check in tomorrow. They are much more up on these than I. edit to add.. the time era is about 1968 when Schrade got the contract.

Richard,
Guy gave you good info except I would put the introduction of the Schrade grooved bolster 301 nearer 1966. If the knife is in new condition, I have seen them sell as high as $100. With original cream colored box, it might bring a bit more. For more detail, see the article on the 300 series in the September 2003 BCC newsletter.
