Is there a good place to swap and learn about older pocket and hunting knives? It seems that most of the topics here are on tacticals, new production knives and customs, not that that's a bad thing, but most of these are beyond my feeble bank account. I would like to collect knives that I don't have to wait several months to afford! Thanks for any help!

You can learn plenty right here. Check out the Benard Levine forum.

As for buying you can put a request in the "want to buy" forum.

Hi Sagebrush - Mike is right -you can learn more than you want to know here - just be patient - and there are "other" brands besides the high end stuff - some people even to get started with take "less than mint" to begin a collection - and trade up when the perfect specimen comes along - watch Gun/knife shows in your area - flea markets - Antique shows ( I picked up an early Gerber "guardian" for 8 bucks at one show) even garage sales .. and decide what you want to collect but DON'T ignore other things - they could be excellent "trading stock". There's no better time to start a hobby/passion than now! And GOOD LUCK HAVE FUN!
