I have two older Fallkniven F1s one German made w/ATS-34 blade and one Japanese made with vg10 blade. Both blades have the pre convex style flat ground with secondary bevel. I'm thinking of getting another of the current production but wonder if the newer version's convex laminated blade really has any significant advantage over the older style. Any thoughts?

Many folks like convex, but I haven't put in the time to get the consistent, super sharp edges so I use an Edge Pro on my F1 and get a wonderful V-edge that works for me.

I did find that the geometry I got on my F1 was kinda thick behind the edge, but not anything I concern myself with much. I like the laminated steel even though the outer layers are kinda prone to scratching. VG-10 has been one of my favorites.
