Hey fellas,

remember that question thread I posted last month, about a slightly odd two-dot Ranger? The one that turned out to have a re-ground blade.. well, that got me thinking. Thinking that I really ought to get another one, with a fuller blade this time.

And whaddayouknow, today such a knife was delivered to me.

Seeing as how the old style square frame suits me quite well, I wanted to keep that. And of course, having a 440C blade is absolutely essential. But this time, let's dispense with the dots altogether, I mean dots are nice, yeah, but they aren't a necessity.

And just for good measure, let's throw in some black micarta inlays and an inverted tang stamp. And as the saying goes, NOW we're talking!

It's looking pretty good next to it's big brother as well. Of course, said big brother is also the younger brother, as it's a late two-dotter, but you know how these modern kids grow so damned big so damned fast.

Suffice to say, I am plenty happy and there is much rejoicing. :)

Congratulations!! I understand the rejoicing….that Micarta 112 is a great addition to an excellent looking Buck 110!!
Both are in fine condition and both from the 1970s.

Congratulations Frankki! They don't get much better than that.

A member on another site I frequent found what he thought was a nice, user Buck this past weekend at a Canadian gun show. He thought it was a "user" since it only cost him $15 Canadian. After I told him he had a 112, category 1, version 1 with original sheath he decided it might just deserve less use and more TLC and fondling. His wasn't quite up to the condition of your's but close.

After seeing both of them in such a short time frame I can say for sure that I'm on the lookout for one or more of my own. Again congratulations and well done on the photos.

Cheers!

I did pay a pretty good sum for mine but it's allright since I really wanted an early one and so it was worth it to me. But, as it's somewhat used and has its dings and scratches already, I'll be actually able to carry and use it, instead of being scared stiff of damaging a brand spanking mint example. Which is really nice actually. :)

You two guys-- Wow! Some excellent 112's. Mike yours looks to have a brass spacer. Frank yours looks to have a stainless spacer. One is 1st the other 2nd. Still, great models, that are getting hard to find. I like the micarta handles on that 112. Thanks guys for the photos. DM

Nice 112!

A lot of times you can find older Bucks like this at yard sales for very little money. It is often worth haunting them every Saturday, very early.

Here's the spring holder on mine, looks like brass to me. And as you can see, its's been carried some and dropped too. But that's cool, all it needs is a good cleaning, a little polishing and a sharpening job, then it's all business.

There's something inside the handle channel that looks like maybe a small piece of leather (see arrow), placed there to act as a cushion and to protect the edge when the blade is closed. I'm thinking this is perhaps a later add-on and not original? And it's not even really necessary, I don't see the edge touching the lockbar inside surface, since the kick is doing it's job and keeping the edge clear.

One more overall view pic, just because I'm rather pleased with myself right now. :D
