Here are the pics of the 293, bit confused on this one....According to the tang stamp pics this one should be "Schrade Cutlery" but the packaging says " Schrade Walden"

Some of the Schrade Walden View Pack tubes with that paperwork were still used when the name change occurred in 1973. And in some cases, 40 years later, knives might have been matched up with older tubes. I've seen a lot of this when knives are sold on eBay. The Schrade NY USA tang stamp was used from 1973 for several years. You will see some with the pattern number still on the back of the tang too. in a few patterns.

The time period is so close, the packaging mix may have happened one of several ways. They may have kept using the Walden inserts for a short while to deplete the stock after the name changed, or a retailer may have popped it into the wrong box during a sale, or a collector passing it on may have done so. Not a deal killer by any means. Not nearly like a much later knife put into the Walden marked package. In some instances, the factory was still shipping Walden marked inventory in the newer named packaging. Schrade Walden/Schrade was not known for wasting materials. And to retail buyers, the differences were inconsequential. Most discarded the packaging spit-spot and pocketed the knife.

I have 25 in all; 293s, 881s, 880s and 8OTs all in that same tube, most of them have never been out of the original wrapping and grease.(pre 1973)
All knives are stamped “Schrade Waldon”. I also have some 881s and 8OT in the brown boxes, stamped “Schrade NY”.(after 1973)
I often see tubes and boxes sell for $5, $10 and once an LB2 box for $26.(I missed that one for my LB2)
I would say; wrong knife for that tube.

I have an LB2 without the box, I bid on a box for it on eBay, some one payed $26 for the LB2 Box with no paper-work.
I do not know what an LB2 is bringing these days, I am still hopping to find an LB4 one day... Ken

yeah right on the LB 4. was lucky enough to find an LB 2 on the cheap somehow. so now have the full set of Uncle Henry Lockbacks except for the aforementioned LB 4 which really doesn't go with the others as far as configuration. i love the lockbacks and the LB 7 is my EDC
