Seeing as how no answer when this was part of a earlier post asking about the HD 13100 knife.

I have a Schrade almost clone of the Buck 110 with the blade marked "SCHRADE+" and under that "U.S.A. LB7" in one line. The tailpiece brass has a 4 digit number 9106 stamped into it adjacent to the blade slot. I have no idea of what the 4 digit number is about other than possibly a date code. Anyone know it's meaning? It seems too short for a serial number. With it's slightly rounded edges compared to the Buck and better finish on the wood scales I actually prefer the Schrade version though I also have a a older Buck 110 or pre-110 model.

tatfiend, as Codger stated a picture or two would help. So far we have a LB7 with a stainless blade. The four digit number is a serial number. Look at the thread for dating the LB7s and you should be able to narrow down the date to a year. Other than they are both 5" folding lockbacks, there are differences between the Buck 110 and the Schrade LB7.

It would help to see a photo of the knife in question.

Lousy at photography but I have put the info in the LB7 serial numbers thread. Reading that thread it looks like my knife is a 1977 four pin with wood bolsters, the first year of serial numbers. I did not remember buying it that early but do know that I bought it new. I also have the sheath but no box or paperwork. The sheath is dark brown with a folded over leather belt loop. It looks like the snap closure was originally nickel or chrome plated and is marked "SCHRADE" twice in a circle. The flap is also marked "SCHRADE " in serif stamped lettering.
