I have a friend who has an older SOG lockback penknife. I think it was called the Mini Gentleman, although it's not the one with the Sidewinder-shaped blade you're probably thinking of. This one has the model number of SOGC33. It has a carbon fiber handle, spearpoint blade and is roughly 2.5" in overall length. This was from, I believe, about the mid-90s and it's one of those that I always wished I'd picked up after it was gone.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had:
1) Any experience with them--did they lock up reasonably tight, despite their small size?

2) Any idea of approximate current value, or at least what they sold for originally? He's said he might sell it and I should make an offer--I don't want to low-ball him, but neither do I want to triple his money. ;)

Thanks,
Warren

Yep, the first one is it Robbie---just derned cute if you ask me. :D

Yes, it is a classic I think. I have one exactly like it and it is a little jewel. I think it would make a perfect EDC for your pocket.

Mine locks up perfectly. I have tried to lay a few of these older SOGs back because they are getting hard to come by.

Notice the flat grind blade..........!~

Thanks much for the links!

Oh, and if you ever come across one of those old carbon-bladed Governments (Recon Government, I think it was called) and don't want it for yourself, kindly point me in the direction wouldja please? :D
