I read that the grind on the Spyderco Delica has changed to a flat one. I'd really rather have the original grind. I believe it was a wedge. Does anyone know where I could buy one online for a reasonable price?

If you find one with an older grind, it's doubtful that the blade will be the current vg-10, which is superior to anything used perviously.

That may well be, I have no idea how to sharpen a blade with a flat grind. How do you do it?

Sharpening depends on if there's an edge bevel, or if the whole grind is at the same angle, all the way to the edge. If there's a secondary edge bevel, you just sharpen as usual. If it's a full flat grind - the same angle all the way - you can sharpen as usual, or just lay the whole blade flat on a stone, which is my preferred method, because it keeps the edge angle constant.

I believe there's a good link for sharpening flat grinds at www.ragweedforge.com.

It used to be a hollow grind, it is now a flat grind. A flat grind is a lot closer to a traditional "wedge" than a hollow grind.

I've never heard of a wedge grind before, if it's my ignorance, I apologize, but you might want to make sure you're clear on what the two are before you plunk down money. I wouldn't want you to be disappointed.

You sharpen a knife with a flat grind and a secondary bevel for the edge, like a Delica, the exact same as you sharpen anything else.
