From the above:

The History Of Henckels

The history of the symbol which represents ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS AG dates back to 1731. It was then that Johann Peter Henckels, a knife-maker based in Solingen, registered the "Twin"- symbol - now recognized throughout the world - as his trademark with Solingens Cutlers’ Guild. It is thus one of the oldest trademarks in the world. Over 260 years have passed since the trademark was registered, years during which the company has achieved international status. Today products by ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS are recognized the world over as a symbol for the highest possible quality.

The oldest knife company that no longer makes knives is probably 1000's of years old. The oldest one that is still making knives that I sell is Kikuichi. The name means First Chrysanthemum and the Chrysanthemum logo they use was the logo of an emperor who ruled Japan in the 14th century. He liked the swords these people made so much he allowed them to put his logo on them. They still put the Chrysanthemum logo on all the kitchen knives they make by hand. The company has been in business continuously for 700 years.

Chrysanthemum be the national flower of JAPAN, and still is the symbol of of the royal family. Tomo arigato, MR. ROBOTO. :D
