I'll be up in Olean this weekend. I'm planning on stopping by the Kabar/Cutco store/mueseum. Anyone have any recommendations for sites to see in the area or places to eat?

The best place for a good steak is the Century Manor restaurant. The Library was the best but they only do catering these days. Not a whole lot to do there, if you like antiques the antique mall in Salamanca is a good one. It isn't too far of a drive to the town of Cattaraugus where there is a knife museum also. Not far to Bradford either where there is the Case/Zippo museum. Have a good trip!! By the way Beefeaters restaurant in Bradford is also in an old library and an excellent place to eat. There is also a casino in Salamanca if you like that kind of thing but I have never been inside. Hopefully "Official KA-BAR" will add to the places to eat and things to do for you.

I may have to check out the antique mall in Salamanca. Case is having an event on Saturday, which we are planning to attend.

The KA-BAR/Cutco Visitor Center will be open. The KA-BAR offices are actually across town, but that is really more of an administrative site and does not have any displays or items for purchase to the public. In Olean several new restaurants have sprung up; check out the Four Mile Brewery for good food as well as an interesting old building. We actually filmed part of The KA-BAR Story documentary there. Union Tea also has great food; the roast beef sandwich is top shelf. Also, be careful driving on the roundabouts; they are relatively new and sometimes folks just breeze through them. In Bradford, my favorite place to eat is Kabobs (Option House), which is another historic building that was once used to trade oil options. I recommend the Gyro there. For breakfast/brunch, John Williams European Pastry is also excellent.

Hey Don, let us know how the Case event goes. Or PM me about it if you don't want to put it on this KA-BAR section. I was there two years ago and it was a shadow of what it had been before that. Official KA-BAR thanks for the restaurant tips. They were just building those rotaries when I was last there (I think two years ago) causing a big traffic mess, interesting to hear how they are doing.
