Olight H1 Nova headlamp
Olight sent me this headlamp to review and it is a very cool piece for sure that offers a lot of versatility. It comes packaged minimally which as I have said before is great for me because I like to keep packages. This light shares the same user interface as other offerings recently released by Olight. A single click of the switch turns the light on. Pressing and holding the switch while on cycles through the modes. A double tap of the switch while on put you in turbo. Pressing and holding while off activates moonlight mode and if you continue to hold through moonlight mode the electronic lock is activated preventing you from accidentally turning the light on in your pocket or pack. SOS can be activated with a triple click and this light does not have a strobe mode. Mode memory allows you to return that last mode used when the light was turned off except for turbo which will only be memorized for 10 minutes. That's about where the similarities end. Unlike other lights from Olight this one has a 90* head on it with a top click switch. Additionally the lens is diffused to provide a very even flood beam great for walking or up close work. This particular model comes with a pocket clip making it good for EDC and a head band attachment for hands free use. The magnet in the tail cap makes it easy to mount it to metal surfaces when EDCing or when the headlamp strap just wont work. While in the head lamp strap a thick rubber base keeps the light secure and allows for 180* of orientation. Of course the band is adjustable to fit your head and all of it fits in a handy zipper case. All of the pictures below were taken while the light was in the head strap and I am six feet tall.
Low mode(15 lumens),lawn chair at one yard.
Low mode, beam pattern about one yard wide from one yard away from center.
Medium mode(60 lumens), tree at five yards.
Medium mode, beam pattern about two yards wide from two yards away from center.
High mode(180 lumens), tree at five yards.
High mode, beam pattern about three yards wide from three yards away from center.
Turbo mode(500 lumens), tree at five yards.
Turbo mode (500 lumens), tree fifteen yards.
Turbo mode, beam pattern about four yards wide from four yards away from center.
