I have had this light for over a week now and have used it quite a bit since I work night shift. My work takes me to many dark areas indoors and out.
Right off the bat I was impressed with the design and looks of this flashlight. It is surprisingly bright for such a small package and has many nice features.
Included with the flashlight is a magnetic USB charger that easily attaches to the butt end of the light, a solid pocket clip, a wrist lanyard and a soft pouch to store it all in. All of these items seem to be of good quality.
When I first put the light on the charger, I was please to see that there is a small LED that changes from red to green to let you know when the light is fully charged. It took less than 2 hours to fully charge (sorry didn't get an exact time) from when the light was totally dead. A full charge lasted me a few nights at work using the various settings. Of course it will depend on how high of a setting you use to determine battery life.
The light has several different settings that are all accessed by a button on the side of the flashlight's body. The light will also remember the last setting you used and return to that setting when you turn it on again. The settings are pretty easy to remember such as:
Double click the switch fast to enter "Turbo Mode" and double click quickly again to enter "Turbo S" mode (The brightest)
Hold button down to enter "Moonlight Mode" (Lowest Setting)
Once the light is turned on, hold in the button to cycle through the 3 main settings (Low, Medium, High)
There is also a lockout mode so that you won't turn it on by mistake in your pocket.
The light will not cycle to the 2 Turbo settings, you have to manually access them. This is good, because they are BRIGHT. (900 lumens listed)
The moonlight setting is perfect for reading or doing something at close range. It is just bright enough to read by, but won't totally ruin your night vision.
The beam is very clean and has a wide spread. Normally I prefer a smaller more focused beam, but due to the brightness of the Olight S1R, Baton, this was not an issue at all. My yard is a half acre and the neighborhood is very dark at night. on the regular high setting (not Turbo) I could see from one end of my yard to the other. From the same distance on the Turbo S setting, I couldn't look at the light due to how bright it was.
Just be warned, that on the Turbo Settings, the light gets hot after 3-4 minutes.
In closing, I will say that this is now my favorite light. VERY bright, plenty of features, rechargeable and small enough to carry anywhere.
