My uncle is a pastor, and just got back from the Holy Land last week. He was awed by the experience. I have been wanting to make him a knife. He bought back some small cups for communion made from olive wood. I have seen some sellers on ebay claiming to sell knife scales made from this wood from Bethlehem. Do you know of any reputable folks who sell real wood from Jerusalem/Bethlehem?

I have purchased from this source. Pen and Knife Blocks.
He even wanted to trade his wood for a knife?
Only thing I would do differently is specify I wanted the Quality of burl wood that he shows. Mine was on the plainer looking side.

Very funny Bill, but likely true.

Have you searched the web at all. I bet there are folks out there peddling the stuff. There certainly are lots of items made from it being peddled.

Good luck. Make sure to share your creation with us!

All the best, Phil

Yes I found those two, but how would one know if they sell wood from where they say they do. I was hoping someone knew for a fact someone that really had wood from those places.
Bill you are probably right. Thanks guys.

For the life of me I can't remember the compnay name but there is a woodworking/ers company that sells pen blanks with both olive wood and olive wood that is supposed to be from Israel.

I got some scales and pen blanks from Israel, via Ebay a few years back.
It came with stickers: 'made in Betlehem' to put on the finnished products.
I find that a bit strange, becouse the blanks may come from Betlehem, turning them in to usable products will happen somewere else.
But it was meant friendly.

I did find them extra expensive.
In retrospect I found that they charched app. 3x the money compared to olive wood from other places.

But I'll keep it appart and use it for people to whom it will have extra value that the wood originated from the holy land.
