It looks as though I will be in the Olympia, WA area in a few weeks. I wiil visit Cabela's but are there any other knifish or outdoors/hunting related stores around there that I should look for? I am interested in a couple of Frost/Moras, maybe a Kabar. It would be too much to hope for that I might find a Ranger RD or a RAT....

There are a couple Army/Air Force bases just north of Olympia, so I'd guess that there should be a few places around that supply knives. I can't think of any off the top of my head right now though. You can probably search for stores near Ft. Lewis and come up with a few.

I'm sure there will be more informative responses than this.

Excalibur cutlery is in Bellevue Square Mall on Bellevue Way & NE 4th Street in Bellevue. Last I knew they also have a store in the Tacoma Mall in Tacoma (much closer to Oly).

If you are in Olympia, it would be worth a trip to Kirkland to see Epicurean Edge, which is a sister company to Bladegallery. They have a museum quality collection of custom knives (well, just look at the Bladegallery site) in addition to a wide variety of custom and production kitchen knives. Daniel O'Malley is a great guy who loves to talk knives.

Portland Cutlery in downtown Portland would be worth the trip and it'll go pretty quickly heading S on I-5 since you're already S of the insane LA-type traffic that begins in Seattle and trickles out near Olympia. It's about 110 miles, just after you cross the Oregon border. Go on Saturday and visit the Outdoor Market...interesting and fun.
